What is the difference between resurfacing and refinishing?
A full refinish sands to bare wood and rebuilds the finish from nothing. Resurfacing, including screen-and-recoat work, renews the wear layer without taking the floor all the way down. It costs less, takes less time, and suits floors that are dull or lightly worn but not damaged.
How do I know which one my floor needs?
Deep scratches through the stain, gray or black water marks, and bare patches mean a refinish. Dullness, fine scratches, and traffic patterns usually mean resurfacing is enough. We look at the actual floor and tell you which, even when it’s the cheaper one.
How long does resurfacing take?
Far less disruption than a full refinish. Often the room’s back in service the next day, depending on the finish. We’ll give you an exact timeline once we see the space.
