Hardwood Floor Installation in Raleigh
An installed floor is only as good as what happened before the first board went down: moisture checks, subfloor prep, acclimation, layout. That’s where our installs start.
How an install goes, start to finish
- Moisture check on the subfloor, and prep with underlayment matched to it.
- Acclimation: the boards get time on site to adjust before fastening.
- Racking and layout, so grain and color spread naturally instead of clumping.
- Fastening, board by board, with expansion gaps where the walls need them.
- Finishing.
You can't see any of that in the photos. You'd see it in five years if we skipped it — gaps, cupping, squeaks.
Frequently asked questions
What kinds of hardwood do you install?
Solid and engineered hardwood in most species and grades, from white oak to character-grade boards with knots in them. We help you pick based on the room and the subfloor rather than warehouse stock.
Do you do carpet-to-hardwood conversions?
All the time. Pulling carpet and replacing it with real hardwood or LVP is one of our core services. The tear-out, the subfloor prep, and the new floor all happen under one crew.
Why does acclimation matter?
Wood moves with moisture. Boards need time on site to adjust before fastening, and the subfloor needs to be checked and prepped first. Skipping those steps is where gaps and cupping come from.
Can you match new hardwood to my existing floors?
Usually, yes. We weave new boards into the old floor and blend the stain so additions and repairs disappear. It’s detail work we do constantly.
